Why this retreat
Type 1 Diabetes affects an estimated 18,000 people across Uganda — including around 5,100 children and adolescents (UBOS, Ministry of Health, WHO). For most D1FYants, that means managing a lifelong condition largely on their own, with few chances to simply rest.
D1FY already runs the programmes — health education, advocacy, skills-building. This weekend isn't one of those. It's a working farm outside Jinja, good food, a campfire, and time set aside purely for rest, adventure, and each other.
